Expat Life In Honduras

Correspondent Michael Paladin writes this morning to share a sampling of the feedback he's getting from expats living in Honduras as he prepares for his next scouting trip to that country:

"All borders are open, and all busses are running normal schedules. Everything here is so tranquilo you'd never know anything happened, except for the fact that there are no tourists. Don't listen to the international media. Come see us...we're bored!"

"As for what's going on, everyone in the country is thrilled that Mel is gone. No one wants him back. We have less crime now than when he was in office. But he continues to play the boogey man role, keeping tourists away. Things will worsen, and these poor people who made a stand not to be ruled by a man who ignored the law will be punished economically because the international community refuses to look at what they really want or to understand what's legal under their Constitution..."
