"Kathleen, I was interested in the reader's comments on Ambergris Caye earlier this week, writes Latin America Correspondent Michael Paladin. "She expressed my feelings exactly. I, too, left Ambergris after one day. I had the same experience in Bocas del Toro, Panama.
"Finding the place that suits you is such a personal choice, and sometimes there's no explaining why one place works and another doesn't. I kept going back to San Jose, Costa Rica, because of the climate (25 visits), trying to make it fit. Granada didn't work for me either (because of the climate) nor Havana (I finally gave up after 13 visits).
"Then I knew in two hours that Antigua, Guatemala, was my personal heaven. I went home, packed my bags, and returned quick as I could. I haven't regretted the move for a minute."
