France Even Cheaper Starting July 1

"Eating out in France will soon be even cheaper," writes Correspondent in that country Lucy Culpepper.
"July 1, in an attempt to attract tourists worried they can't this year afford a trip to the Continent, the French government is implementing a big drop in the TVA (local sales), from 19.6% to 5.5%, payable by restaurant owners.
"To benefit from this cut, restaurant owners must agree to an 11.8% decrease in the prices of 7 key menu items (selected from a list of 10 items chosen by the government), including starters, the dish of the day, and the ubiquitous black coffee.
"I hope to write, very soon, to report a three-course lunch for just 10.80 euro. And I say now, come on over. France is far more affordable than you might think!"
