Life On A Sand Dab In The Caribbean Sea

Jan. 30, 2012, Caye Caulker, Belize: Caye Caulker, Belize, is a much less developed Caribbean lifestyle and retirement option than Ambergris Caye, Belize.

Dear Live and Invest Overseas Reader,

"Outside my window, it's turquoise as far as the eye can see," writes Belize Correspondent Mary Bartnikowski. "Living here on the second largest reef in the world, on the islet of Caye Caulker, Belize, the beautiful Caribbean is literally on my doorstep and all around.

"I've been in residence here for two months, and already I feel part of the community. People are friendly and show it. I wave or say hi to almost everyone I pass when I am out walking or riding my bike (you don't need anything else for transportation here). If you want company, all you have to do is open your mouth and start talking. Someone will listen and engage you. Whether you're a single or a couple, it doesn't matter. You will find friends.

"The sunsets are devastatingly gorgeous. I wouldn't miss one. I watch the sunrise, too, as I do my yoga each morning on the beach. But it's not only the sights of Caye Caulker that attracted me. It's the sounds, too. When I first heard the birdsong that is all over this island, I knew I'd found a special place.

Why We Continue To Choose Panama

Dec. 27, 2011, Stowe, Vermont: Four reasons Panama is the best place in the Americas to base and operate an international business.

Dear Live and Invest Overseas Reader,

When looking around the world in search of a place to base your business, these are the factors to consider:

  1. Corporate tax rates
  2. Availability of qualified labor
  3. Import and export duties
  4. Infrastructure (including options for air and/or sea transportation, internal roads, and telecommunications)

Each of these factors will be more or less important depending on the business you want to operate.

Taking a very big-picture perspective, considering all these criteria, Panama comes out on top in Latin America. That's why we chose Panama, four years ago, as the place to base our Internet publishing business, and it's why many, many other businesses, including many very big international operations, are also choosing to settle in this country.

Dear Overseas Opportunity Letter Reader,

"Kathleen, my husband and I have fallen in love with this place. We're staying on through next week, and we're determined to find an apartment to buy before we go back home. We never expected to love it here as much as we do. I can't describe to our family back in the States what Medellin is really like..."

"Kathleen, this is a real city. I mean, I know you've been writing about how sophisticated and cultured Medellin is, but, I have to admit, I didn't really believe you. It's hard to understand until you're here and you see for yourself. This city isn't at all what I expected, even after reading your accounts of it. Your descriptions don't do it justice. But now I understand. It's hard to articulate just how nice it is here..."

Readers Say

"The level of experience, knowledge, and competence is top-shelf. Primarily, I appreciated the sincere and honest approach of the organizers and all the presenters, as well as the obvious desire to give participants complete, accurate, timely, and appropriate information and to answer questions thoroughly."

Andrew F., United States
"I particularly appreciated your information today about the joys (?) of international rental property. What I admire is your honest, tell-it-like-it-is approach. A lot of people have been hurt by nothing but glowing reports about offshore living from various sources. Your honest, direct approach is a real service."
