Miguel Pinto-Correia is from the island of Madeira, Portugal, and has lived in London and Brussels—nevertheless, he believes his home island is the best place in the world to live. He holds a master's degree in international economics and European studies and a bachelor degree in economics. He was a tax consultant for one of the Big Four and technical advisor on small island economies and jurisdictions for the European Parliament. He is a member of the Order of the Economists of Portugal (Ordem dos Economistas), and within the Order he is a fellow of the College of Political Economy.
