Why 2018 Will Be An Exciting Year For LIOS (And For You Too!)

Step One: Walk Away From The News Cycle

Back in Panama, fresh off a month in Europe, all the calendar days of a new year in front of us… each one begging to be filled with discovery… I’d say that this world of ours is a pretty great place to be.

I make the point in case you’re worried the opposite is true. In this age of 24/7 real-time news, it can be easy to succumb to the theory that times are tough.

Au contraire, dear reader…

Things are not bad all over. Indeed, in so many spots on our world map life is good… grand even.

After recharging our batteries over the holidays, Lief and I are in the office in Panama City where staff is debriefing us on what’s ahead…

New events… for the would-be expat in Italy (in Pescara in October) and the would-be wandering entrepreneur looking to earn an income to subsidize his (or her) adventures overseas (in the United States in November)…

New websites… take a look at our all-new Overseas Property Alert website, for example…

New product launches… including Lief’s new tax guide for Americans overseas (being updated to include a special report on what an American abroad should know about the recent changes to U.S. tax code)… and Lief’s soon-to-be-launched “How To Go Offshore In 48 Days” program…

A new edition of my “How To Retire Overseas” book is being published by Penguin Random House in time to be on bookstore shelves this May…

This New Year will even see us inaugurating a whole new division.

We’re counting down to the launch of a new line of products dedicated to helping you prepare financially for retirement. How can you generate the cash flow you need to live the life you want at this important stage? Our editors have decades of experience identifying top income strategies. It’s high time, we’ve realized, that we make these available to you. Stay tuned.

What else is new this New Year?

New voices in the conversation… including new Overseas Property Alert Editor Wendy Howarter… new Panama property pro Evie Brooks… new Belize property pro Jamie Ganger… and new Spain expat Mike Herndon…

Lief and I have just one day in the office this visit. We leave tomorrow morning for Belize, where we’ll host our sold-out Live and Invest in Belize Conference… and then stick around for a few days to check in on what’s new in this country that I have been recommending as one of the best places on earth to live or retire overseas for 30 years.

In today’s world, where the news cycle does its best to convince us that trouble lies around every bend and across every border, Belize stands out as an oasis of peace… a place where back-to-basics is a way of life. I’ve found over the many years I’ve been spending time in Belize that the folks you meet in this quirky little under-the-radar country are among the best company you’ll find anywhere on earth.

From Belize Lief and I will travel to another of the best places in our world to escape the worries of our world—Medellín, Colombia.

Huh? Medellín a top choice for peace, quiet, and tranquility? What about the drug dealers and the cartel bangers?

They’re old news.

Don’t believe me? Come see for yourself how pretty, safe, welcoming, and packed with upside this city of parks and flowers really is.

In Medellín Lief and I will be hosting this year’s Private Access retreat at our home in El Poblado. We’ll spend the weekend with a small group of readers who have decided to make 2018 the year they get serious about pursuing their live and invest overseas dreams—with the full support of Lief, me, and the entire Live and Invest Overseas team of experts and pros. I believe we still have room in the room for one more for this one-of-a-kind program (details are here)…

After Medellín it will be back to Panama for a more extended visit. We’ll be in Panama City to host our Live and Invest in Panama Conference… and then we’ll stay on for a month with our teams on the ground in Panama City and out on the Azuero Sunset Coast at Los Islotes…

Where next? Keep reading. We don’t want to give too much away too soon. The unexpected is one of the best parts of living and investing overseas.

From where we sit, 2018 promises to be not a good year, but a great one.

I’m speaking not personally but collectively. You are standing at the start of the best year of your life.

Step one: Walk away from the news cycle…

Step two: Hit the road.
