How To Earn $10,000 Per Month Working Part Time In Cayo, Belize
“So, Tony, here you are retired in Belize,” I began…
“If you don’t mind my asking, what do you do with yourself all day long day after day?
“I mean, you can fill only so many hours hiking, biking, and river tubing.”
I met Tony for the first time a couple of years ago at one of our annual Retire Overseas Conferences. At that event, Tony met Phil Hahn, the man behind the Carmelita Gardens community in Belize’s Cayo District.
Life at Carmelita is self-sufficient and off-the-grid. In his previous life in the States, Tony was a high-rolling options investor. He liked the idea of putting that frenzied lifestyle behind him in retirement.
Phil told Tony about the little turnkey cottages he was planning for one of his Carmelita neighborhoods. A fully furnished, fully outfitted, off-grid cottage sounded like just the ticket to Tony… who became Phil’s first Petit Cottage owner.
Now, two years later, the cottage has been built… and Tony has made his move. While visiting Phil at Carmelita last week, I noticed Tony standing on the front porch of his cottage admiring the view.
After touring his little home, I couldn’t help but wonder about Tony’s life in this part of the world.
I enjoy every chance I get to visit Belize’s Cayo District… but, standing on Tony’s porch with him, I tried to imagine myself living there full-time. What would I do with myself all day…
And I couldn’t resist asking Tony how he fills his time.
I never could have predicted his response.
“FBA book arbitrage,” he told me.
“Excuse me?” I replied.
“FBA stands for Fulfillment By Amazon. I’m using it to arbitrage books. You haven’t heard of it? It’s becoming a big business.
“Life here in Cayo is great,” Tony continued. “I ride my bicycle. I walk to the grocery store. Once or twice a week I take the bus into San Ignacio. I love the simple, back-to-basics life I’m living here.
“And I’m still trading options online. But that’s only a matter of a few hours every Monday morning and a few more hours every Friday.
“So you’re right. I needed something else to do with myself.
“I read about these people making US$30,000 and more per month using the FBA book arbitrage program. But they’re working 12-hour days. I’m hoping to make US$10,000 per month working at it part-time.
“The key,” Tony continued, “is identifying books that are going to be hot and in frenzied demand for some reason.
“I bought a book—an ordinary paperback—for US$14 and sold it for US$120.”
“But why would anyone pay US$120 for an ordinary paperback?” I couldn’t help but ask…
“Good question, right?” Tony replied with a chuckle.
“In this case, it was a book that, at the time, was being made into a big-deal movie. Everyone wanted a copy of the original book, but only a few were available.
“I tried that little experiment some months ago. I was delighted with the outcome, but I had to put the idea aside while I was making my move down here to Cayo.
“Now that I’m settled into my little place, I’m ready to give it another go.”
“Would you do me a favor?” I asked.
“Would you mind staying in touch to let me know how it goes? If you’re able to prove your theory and actually earn US$10,000 per month working four hours per day arbitraging books online, I’d really like to hear about it… and I’d bet your fellow readers would, too.”
Tony promises to keep us posted.
