Celebrating Thanksgiving In Japan

“Kathleen, enjoyed your Thanksgivings overseas post last week.

“We were in Japan for a year 25 years ago, not in a big city. Turkeys were an unknown fowl; ok, we’ll do with chicken. I did find some potatoes but no celery. Gravy? I couldn’t read any of the labels in the supermarket but was pleased to find a large assortment of gravies. Turned out to be miso-soup base. As for cranberries, there they were, clearly pictured on the can. Turned out to be some sort of red bean. What the heck, we bought sushi for dinner that day.”
