“Vicki and I were having lunch in old-town Chongqing, with two Chinese girls,” writes Intrepid Correspondent Paul Terhorst from China. “Suddenly one of the girls got a call. A friend gave her the news: A bank robber had hit a bank very near where we were eating.
“Someone was killed in the process.
“Later that day the girls pointed out a wanted poster with the robber’s picture. Over the next few days we noted similar wanted posters all around town, just everywhere.
“Then today the local paper carried a huge picture of what looked like the bank robber, front page, above the fold. A big red X had been drawn through the man’s face. Off to the side was a crime scene with yellow tape, cops, and breakage.
“I take it we won’t have to worry about that robber anymore…”
