In fact, it is. That is, Ecuador not only uses the “$” symbol to represent its currency…it uses the U.S. dollar as its currency. The U.S. dollar is the currency of Ecuador.
This can be a plus for retirees with U.S. dollar-denominated retirement nest eggs and income, as they don’t have to worry about losing out on any currency exchange.
