Colombia Gives More Than 46,000 Visas To Foreigners In 2013

The Foreign Ministry of Colombia announced that 46,943 visas were given out to foreigners in 2013. These included visas for tourism, work, studies, and business and were required for the groups of people obtaining them.

7,081 visas were approved for Venezuelans, which were the largest group to receive visas. Most of the visas processed for Venezuelans were work visas.

Other countries that obtained a significant number of visas were:

  • United States with 4,719 approved
  • Spain with 4,095 approved
  • China with 3,146 approved

“The presence of foreigners in our country [Colombia] is impressive and growing rapidly, something that did not happen before,” said Chancellor María Ángela Holguín.
