Miss America Latina Crowned


Nicole Pinto won the crown of Miss America Latina del Mundo 2014 during a ceremony Sept. 7 in Bavara, Dominican Republic. Pinto was the Miss America Latina candidate from Panama.

The runners-up were Yanire Ortiz of Spain, Patricia Guerra of Brazil, Michelle Cohn of Guatemala, and Miluska Huaroto Maradiegue of Peru.

Pinto was granted the crown from the previous Miss America Latina, Julia Guerra, who hails from Brazil. Pinto studies business with and emphasis in marketing at la Universidad Latina.

Despite the name of the competition, the competition is not confined to contestants from Latin American countries, including women of Latina heritage from around the world. Previous winners have come from across Latin America, as well as the United States and Italy.
