Tourists In Panama Generated More Than US$3.3 Billion In 2013

In 2013 Panama received more than 2.2 million tourists that generated about US$3.3 billion for the country, a 7.8% increase from the year before.

According to the reported information, March was found to be the month that generated the most income with US$323.5 million. 69.4% of the tourists arrived through the Tocumen airport, which services the capital.

49.7% of the of the tourists were from South America, 24.4% from North America, 11.1% from Europe, 9% from Central America, and the rest came from Asia.

The occupation rate of tourists in hotels in Panama City were 56.7%, a drop of 3.7% compared to 2012, in which the ATP says this is because of the increased amount of hotel rooms available.
