Wikipedia’s Top 10 Searches Revealed

A study into Wikipedia has revealed just how unique different countries internet search histories really are. The study, conducted by Swedish software engineer Johan Gunnarsson, compiled mountains of data to discover the top ten wiki articles in many different countries.

The contrasts are huge. For example, Hua Shan – a Chinese mountain featuring “the world’s deadliest hiking trail”, topped the Dutch list. By contrast, cul-de-sacs were the German site’s most clicked entry. In the patriotic Sweden, most viewed article was a page dedicated to the country itself.

Italy appeared to love US television. Grey’s Anatomy came out on top, and Gossip Girl, and The Vampire Diaries followed after. Impressively, British boy band One Direction appeared in the English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Swedish, and Danish top 10 lists.
