“We made you two promises when we extended the invitation for you to join us here in Houston for this year’s Retire Overseas Conference…
“First, we promised to introduce you to the world’s 21 best places to think about living or retiring overseas right now…
“Second, we promised to show you how to engineer a move to whichever of these tempting locales grabs your attention.”
That’s how I intend to begin the conversation tomorrow with the hundreds of folks traveling to meet us here in Houston for the four days of this year’s big event.
This retire-overseas thing can be pretty cut-and-dried. You choose a destination, you buy a plane ticket, you show up.
It really is that straightforward a proposition… on one hand.
On the other, it’s nothing like that simple.
To launch a new life in a new country, you need a step-by-step plan.
And you need to understand the pitfalls and the challenges so you can face them prepared and with confidence.
That’s the point over the coming four days in Houston. With the help of the dozens of correspondents, expats, and experts from around the world we’ve convened here with us, we will, starting tomorrow, work to help every participant in the room customize his (or her) own go-overseas plan.
How does one (really) retire overseas?
We’ve broken down the answer to that question into very user-friendly pieces that, over the coming four days, we’ll lay out and walk through in detail, allowing for lots of interaction and Q&A.
We’ll begin with: Where?
Where in the world would be the best place for you to think about reinventing your life today?
That’s the fun part of this conversation.
As important, though, as “Where?” is “How much?”…
This retire overseas conversation often begins with cost. And, no question, you can improve your quality of life and live better than you ever have even on a modest budget in many of the places we’re going to talk about over the coming four days.
However, a reduced cost of living is only a place to begin, because the benefits of relocating your retirement overseas go well beyond budget.
This is about reinvention, about starting over, and about having the greatest adventure of your lifetime.
If you’re making your way to Houston to join us in the room for the biggest retire-overseas event of the year, we are very much looking forward to meeting you soon.
We’ve got a lot of work to do.
