As much as possible, Lief and I follow the seasons.
January in this part of the world means clear, bright skies, cooling breezes, and low humidity.
January through March is summertime in the Isthmus. Kids are out of school, and everyone heads to the beach. Lief and I join them…
Given our druthers, come springtime, you’ll find us in Paris.
We’ve arrived later than we’d like this year. Technically, summer in this part of the world starts June 21. When we walked out of Charles de Gaulle airport Friday evening, you could have fooled us.
“Yikes. This is steamier than the weather we thought we were leaving behind in Panama City,” Lief observed as we waited our turn in the taxi queue and he removed his sportscoat.
Still, signs of late spring greet us…
And we are settling into our day-to-day routines in the City of Light…
In addition to seasonal upsides, another advantage of living more than one place at a time is diversity of opportunity for exploration.
When we’re in Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Colombia are on our doorstep.
Here in Paris, the whole of the Continent is our back yard.
As we were preparing to depart Panama City, a friend got in touch with a suggestion.
“I’m going to Strasbourg!” Beth wrote. “Wanna come along?”
The “Capital of Christmas,” the seat of major European institutions including the European Parliament, and home to a stunning UNESCO-listed Gothic cathedral, Strasbourg, on the French-German border, is renowned for its blended culture, half-timbered architecture in the “Petite France” district, and hearty Alsatian cuisine.
It’s also a quick and easy train ride from Paris so Lief and I are taking our friend up on her invitation. We’re planning a detour from the City of Light later this month to enjoy the city, the food, the wine, and the company, and we’re inviting our Private Network members to join us.
July 1 will find us Stateside in time for America’s big birthday party. We’ll be in Woodstock, Illinois, for the 250th 4th of July, joined by our granddaughters who’ll be celebrating their first-ever Independence Day.
Then, later that month, it’ll be back to Panama in time for the most important event on our 2026 calendar.
July 24-26 I’ll be hosting the biggest event of my career—our Beachfront Living Event.
With the help of dozens of fellow expert and expat friends and colleagues from across the globe, I will introduce all in attendance to more than 30 handpicked beachfront destinations across 10 countries in Europe and the Americas… to help every single participant find his or her perfect fit.
My schedule makes it hard for me to participate in our in-person conferences, but I wouldn’t miss this one.
My entire 40+-year career has led to this event.
