Lief and I look forward to August.
For years, it has been our custom to set aside a week each August to spend time with a small circle of friends from around the world.
These guys didn’t start out as friends.
We got to know them when they helped us make real estate and other investments in their home countries. Some have helped with residency processes and tax advice.
These are the folks we turn to ourselves as we continue to evolve our personal global diversification plans, both financial and lifestyle.
Over time—in some cases, decades—they’ve also become great friends.
We wish we could see them more often, but we count on August as our chance to regroup in person…
To spend time together discussing global markets and events and how they’re creating opportunities in our core markets of focus—from Portugal and Belize to Colombia and Panama and beyond.
After a week away with these guys, I feel prepared for whatever the world might send our way.
This year, of course, we’ve all been thrown maybe the biggest curveball of our lives. The global pandemic is creating struggle and challenge the likes of which we haven’t had to face before.
One practical consequence of the crisis is that we’re all largely grounded. Maybe we can move around locally, but international travel is mostly off the table right now… meaning we’ve had to defer our usual August trip.
At the same time, I feel like I need the counsel and perspective of our advisor network right now more than ever.
“We can’t get together with everybody in person,” I said to Lief recently… “but maybe we could all connect online.”
“Great idea,” he said. “Let’s invite the group for virtual cocktails.”
Which is what we did… and we were delighted when everyone replied quickly and affirmatively. Some even offered previews of the from-the-scenes market information and insights they’re now looking forward to sharing with Lief and me and the rest of the crew.
Interested to hear how the Portuguese have handled the lockdown…
Like to know about the opportunity in Colombia our lawyer in Medellín says is poised to flourish big-time post COVID-19…
And think you might enjoy some wild and crazy tales of what the Belizeans have gotten up to during all of this?
I thought so. Me, too.
That’s why I’d like to invite you to join Lief and me and our team for a video chat on (as we’re referring to it) Lockdown Survival Stories From Around The World.
For this little get-together, we’ll have 10 contacts online in total including lawyers, writers, agents, property developers, and retirees.
They’ll be logging on from Portugal, Panama, France, Colombia, Ireland, Brazil, Mexico, and Belize. And they’ll all be on hand to share stories and tips on the overseas haven they call home, providing in-country updates from their respective corners of the globe.
We’re going to speak about our current situations and
the various Plan B’s we’ve been pursuing
during these extraordinary times… including frank discussions about what’s working for each of us… and what isn’t.
We’ll also look at how property markets around the world have been affected.
Our video chat will be taking place this Thursday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. EDT. And we’d like to invite our All Access Pass members, Private Network members, andOverseas Living Lettersubscribers to join us online. If you’re one of these preferred readers, we’ll look forward to connecting with you virtually this Thursday.
Check your inbox later this week for details on how to connect.
Speak with you then.
