Looking at a map of El Salvador, this Central American country has Hondurasto its northeast,Guatemalato its northwest, and the Pacific Ocean along its south.

Above all, El Salvador is the only country in Central America without a Caribbean coastline, but that’s no reason to despair.

It’s not on our list of top overseas havens yet. But, this is a country on the rise with good fundamentals.

The country is small (you can cross it in four hours), so the beach is 30 minutes away from San Salvador.

Direct flights from several U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Washington D.C., New York City, Houston, and Dallas land daily in San Salvador International Airport.

Flight times rarely exceed five hours, making El Salvador a great retirement destination if you plan on returning to the States frequently.

El Salvador enjoys a tropical climate, with a dry season from November to April and a rainy season from May to October.

During the rainy season, tropical downpours are regular, but from November to April, you are guaranteed sunshine every day.

Temperatures hover between 64°F and 90°F, with lower temperatures in mountainous regions.

The climate is perfect for getting out into the great outdoors and enjoying all that El Salvador offers.

In the money department, El Salvador’s official currency is the U. S. dollar. And, the economy is sound, and tax rates are reasonable.
