Asuncion, Paraguay’s capital city, also happens to be the country’s largest. With a population nearing 2.4 million, the city represents close to 35% of the entire population of Paraguay. The city is known as the “Mother of Cities,” as it is one of the oldest in South American. As with many large cities in region, Asuncion has a bit of a unique and tumultuous past.
