Mexico features a consistently warm, tropical climate with temperatures generally ranging from 50 °F to 90 °F year‑round and average humidity around 70%. The country experiences a dry season from November to May, followed by a rainy season from June to October. Regional variations include cooler, desert-like conditions in mountainous areas and hot summer temperatures reaching 95 °F along Pacific coastal regions.
Mexico is typically thought of as a primo retirement destination—which it is—but plenty of expats here are also making a living and raising families.
Many start businesses, including schools, restaurants, bars, real estate services, franchises, and more. Or they work remotely, consulting online for U.S. or European clients.
Already an affordable place to live, Mexico is even more so right now thanks to the current exchange rate between the peso and the U.S. dollar.

The average temperature between December and March is around 70°F, while during the warmer months of March and April thermometers can go up to 90°F.
Weather conditions can utterly vary within the mountainous areas of northern Mexico, where winter seasons are very cold and usually freezing during the night. Also, on the Pacific coastline, summer temperatures reach 95°F around the southern areas of Mazatlán or Puerto Vallarta.
As in any country, weather depends on your region, but generally Mexico enjoys a warm, tropical climate, with little temperature fluctuation from season to season.
Mexico is a large country that usually enjoys sunny weather. It has different climates, which means there is something for everyone.
The coasts are tropical, with the Caribbean Sea to the east, the Gulf of Mexico to the north of the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. These areas have warm, humid air.
However, the higher areas in the middle of the country are cooler. For example, Mexico City, located around 7,500 feet in the Sierra Madre, is often near snow-covered mountains in winter.
