Belize offers a warm, subtropical climate with average temperatures around 80°F year-round. The Cayo District is drier, with under 15 inches of rain annually. Expats are drawn by the climate, scenic coastlines, and easy international access, with direct flights from major U.S. cities. Belize has two seasons: a dry season (Dec–May) and a rainy season (June–Nov).
The climate in Belize is subtropical—balmy and comfortable. The temperature in all areas of Belize typically hovers around 80°F throughout the year.
Average annual humidity is around 80%. Average annual rainfall in most parts of Belize is about 50 inches, but the Cayo District receives significantly less—fewer than 15 inches per year.
As in any country, weather depends on your region, but generally, Belize enjoys a warm, tropical climate.
The coastline feels cooler due to the sea breezes, while some regions inland also cool from the raising elevation. The only noticeable seasons are associated with the predictable changes in precipitation: the rainy season also known as the “green” season, and the dry season.
In short, Belizean weather is a main game changer for expats who chose to retire in this country.
Belize also offers a lot of what many tourists, retirees, and investors are looking for: Sandy beachfront, both along its mainland coast and encircling its offshore cays.
Belizean Dry season: December to May
Belizean Rainy season: June to November

For such a small country, Belize enjoys an abundance of international airline connections. No wonder expats are flocking to Belize.
There are direct flights from Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Newark, Charlotte, Miami, and San Salvador on major airlines such as American, United, and Delta.
For example, try using Kayak to find and compare airfares.
Most importantly, Belize is only a two-hour flight from Miami and three hours from Dallas.
Tropic Air, a local Belizean airline, also flies to neighboring Cancún, Roatán, San Pedro Sula, and Guatemala City.
