Cost Of Living In The Azuero Peninsula, Panama

The cost of living in the Azuero Peninsula is one of the cheapest in the world for such a prime sunny, tropical, and beach ridden destination.

No matter which area you decide to live in the Azuero Peninsula (the Western or Eastern coasts of the Azuero Peninsula offer different amenities), you will still find great affordable options on this paradise coast.

Compared to most places in the United States, the cost of living in Panama is approximately half of your current monthly budget. The cost of living in the Azuero Peninsula is even cheaper than that.

The Eastern Coast has three main cities (ChitréLas Tablas, and Pedasí) that are sought after tourist destinations for surfing, partying, the carnival festival, and rest and relaxation.

The cost of living in these cities is usually comparable, and a single person can expect to pay US$800 to US$1,000 per month. A family of four can expect to pay more or less US$2,000 per month.

For instance, the cost of living on the Western Coast of the Azuero Peninsula is similar to its counterpart.

And, it truly depends on the level of infrastructure you are looking for, what level of commodities you need every week, or how much driving you do and gas you buy.

Most things will be far from you. In short, you’ll have to drive to larger cities (such as Santiago, the capital of the Veraguas province) every couple of weeks for a larger selection on groceries.

Your monthly budget will depend on how often you make the hour or two hour drive for particular items or commodities, and how much you feel you need your specific brand of soda.

              Renting In The Azuero Peninsula

When renting in the Azuero Peninsula, you should be careful of the “gringo prices”. This means that people will try to overcharge you because you are a foreigner. Be sure to do research beforehand for accommodations and general pricing.

You can easily find great local restaurants for a fair price. An inexpensive meal at a smaller place can be anywhere from US$3 to US$10 (and this is for a large portion of a home cooked meal). A three course meal for two people at a nicer restaurant will cost approximately US$30.

Groceries in Santiago (the nearest big city) are very cheap and affordable, and barely more expensive than the smaller grocers you will find in the Azuero Peninsula. You get a larger variety of options and can find international products in Santiago.

On average, a gallon of milk is US$5.50, a loaf of bread goes for US$2.00, and a dozen eggs also set you back US$1.90.

The rest of your monthly expenses will depend on the things you want to do in the Azuero Peninsula area.

On top of that, gas prices are currently at approximately US$3.80 a gallon. If you choose the right place to settle down or visit, you will not have to go far for fun, nature, rest and relaxation, and a beach.

Be sure to check out both sides of the Peninsula if it is your first time visiting the area. You will find wondrous adventures in every corner you explore.
